What happened:

The party arrives in Sigil and it is bustling with action. People are hurrying from place to place. Gertrude, the cyclops, waves hi as she hurries by. Argentia, Valendar, and Riffel are looking over maps. There are dozens of people working around the Sanctum.

The Wizards Three are in Alustriel's workspace working together. They congratulates the party for retrieving another piece of the rod. Alustriel explains that they are amassing their own army to fight Vecna's army that is gathering in Pandesmos. Nyx explains that they are headed to Avernus for the next rod piece. The Wizards Three give information to the party about Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells. Tasha is able to cast a spell so that everyone's souls are pieced back to together while they rest. They also give Greater Healing potions to each of them and Tasha casts a spell to hide their souls while they are in hell (saying only someone with truesight would be able to see through it).

The party heads through the portal and arrives on a cliff in Avernus. When they climb down, a huge metal vehicle comes to a stop in front of them and they are greeted by an Erinyes (devil lady), named Nykaia. When Nykaia hears they are trying to go to the Red Belvedere, she offers to take them in exchange for them helping with her latest score. Nykaia and her two sisters and trying to take down a goristro and it's soldiers. They want the party to defeat the goristro while they take out the soldiers. The party agrees and hops on to the infernal war machine. Grombo takes control of one of the harpoon guns and Tink operates the infernal screamer.

After an hour the group pulls up to a huge demon that is carrying soldiers on it's back and two vrocks (demon birds). The three devil ladies take flight and charge the soldiers. The party attacks from a far with the vehicle and ranged weapons. Burton charges toward the "gordita crunch". The devil ladies take out the smaller soldiers quickly. The party continues to attack the goristro. The goristro and both vrocks attacks Burton. The party decides to rally to Burton, Zel stays back not wanting to die again. Tink throws up Spiritual Guardians. One of the vrocks starts to attack Nyx. Grombo rages, then grapples and pins the other vrock. Zel runs up to help Nyx. The goristro is able to hit Tink several times. Nyx rages and runs to help Tink. Burton helps Grombo by attacking the grappled vrock. Zel now alone with a vrock, disengages and runs towards Burton and Grombo. Tink and Nyx continue to attack the goristro. The devil ladies continue to take out the larger solders. Zel runs up and kills the grappled vrock. The devil ladies finish the soldiers and help take down the goristro. Tink finishes off the last vrock.

The devil ladies bring down their treasure, a large cage, off the back of the dead goristro. Through the iron bars, the party sees the white fur and gilded mane of a unicorn as it nickers in fear.
