Background

Ikasa wears a magical collar that allows him to speak Common. His best friend is Daveras. They were shipwrecked with a treant named Redbud.

Ikasa reveals he saw Daveras’s friend, the halfling Palenna Tindertoe, escape the wreckage of the Verdant Branch after pirates attacked it. Palenna floated away from the ship using the power of her mind and likely still floats somewhere in the Astral Sea. Ikasa didn’t tell Daveras, who believes he, Redbud, and the blink dog were the only survivors of the attack. Ikasa hasn’t had the opportunity to find Palenna due to being trapped on the lifeboat, and he is afraid Daveras will become despondent thinking about his friend trying to survive in the Astral Sea alone.
