Backstory

Grombo met Altharion Veylen years ago during a border skirmish that Grombo does not remember clearly—only that everything was loud, on fire, and very unfair.

Grombo was the last one standing.

Veylen found him sitting on a broken wall, eating rations off a shield, surrounded by enemies he’d already beaten. Instead of interrogating him, Veylen sat down beside him, shared food, and asked Grombo why he kept fighting.

Grombo answered:
“Because bad things were still moving.”

Veylen laughed—quietly—and said, “That may be the best answer I’ve ever heard.”

Veylen would check in on Grombo from time to time to share a meal and to share a story.

Sometime later, Veylen told Grombo there would come a time when strong, clever people would need someone who did not lie to himself, did not fear monsters, and did not overthink evil. He asked Grombo one thing:

“In Krynn, when the sky has three moons and the fighting feels wrong, please wait there. Others will come. Give them this.”

He pressed a sealed letter into Grombo’s hands.

Grombo agreed.

He has been waiting in Krynn a very long time.
Sometimes fighting.
Sometimes eating.
Always watching the moons. He waits in the forest, not sure why. But he somehow knows this is the place.

When the party arrived, Grombo knew immediately.
